Namsakara, myself Arunkumar Bangalore Appaji Gowda. Of course, my name has the place that I came from. I was working for Bosch back in Namma Bengaluru before I came to Perth. My journey to Australia was unplanned as I wanted to be an IAS officer but somehow landed here in Perth. As I was the most pampered son, I missed being with my family, I missed my place especially Devaiah park, Malleshwara, Gradually, I met a few Kannadigas who had the same interest as me in building our own community and end up forming WAKS, I am very proud of being one of the founding members of WAKS. My terms towards Kannadadiga’s is very simple ಗಾಂಚಲಿ ಬಿಡಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾತಾಡಿ
Namaskara, myself Mr Girish Asundi from Hubli, North Karnataka. Initially, when I first migrated to Western Australia in the year of 2006, I came to know that there were no collaborative community gatherings of Kannadigas. I felt isolated and missed my motherland in a country far away from where I grew up. This inspired me to form WAKS, with a few of my friends. I aim to continue to maintain our Kannada heritage by hosting events and teaching Karnataka culture to our children. As a founder member, I am proud at how WAKS has grown from the very beginning to till now.
